Studies biological materials from a chemical point of view with the interest of explaining, at a molecular level, scientific problems and situations of social interest, improving production processes, developing biotechnologies and transmitting knowledge. Main areas of interest: microbial molecular biotechnology (use of microbes for the production of molecules of interest due to their commercial value or for scientific research, which can be secondary metabolites or macromolecules, including heterologous expression), production of unprocessed and processed foods, and water quality.
